The Impact of Smoking The current problem with smoking in today’s society is that its not only killing peoples wallets its literally killing people themselves. In many cases around the globe older and younger men and women are dieing from lung cancer because in fact they are smokers and the tobacco companies could care less because they are making money. Smoking causes emphysema in the lungs which is a build of tar in the lungs from the chemical Nicotine found in cigarettes. Dictionary.com deffine’s smoke is the visible vapor and gases given off by a burning or smoldering substance especially the gray, brown, or blackish mixture of gases and suspended carbon particles resulting from the combustion of weed, pent, coal, or other organic material. So the real issue with smoking in the end is that its killing people in today’s society but there’s one point they can argue its there choice to smoke or not to harm themselves or stay healthy by not smoking. In return cigarette comp anies have created a new type of electric cigarettes that give the same effect but just don’t contain the harmful chemicals. Many products have been created and organizations to help smokers quit but cant simply reach out and connect with tobacco users they have patches people put on for approximately 3 weeks and it declines their need to smoke. It is up to the people to decide if they will smoke or not but its up to the tobacco companies to provide a product that will satisfy there customers and not only keep them safe but keep them loyal. Unfortunately they have not stayed loyal to a healthy product and this is a growing issue today. Smoking is the number one cause of lung cancer in all people who smoke. The issue with smok... ...hey could careless about the sate of people’s health they just want to make a profit. Smoking has had many problems with people’s health state and the well being of others. So the government has created certain agencies that would otherwise help the people in a situation that involved Smoking. These agencies protect not only the health of the people but they provide support for those in need and they give stability to all who look to quit and other options if a person is struggling. Some of these agencies include the ATF, AHRQ, the IHS, and NCI the National Cancer Institute particularly pertaining to smoking and the effects of long exposure to nicotine and other harmful substances in cigarettes. One of the most important agencies is the NCI- National Cancer Institute because it directly deals with the cause and harmful effects of cancer from smoker patients.

Planning is the activity of preparing a scheme, program, or method that is worked out beforehand for the accomplishment of some set objectives. There are different types of planning which include strategic, tactical, operational and contingency planning. Apple Inc. is one of the most successful and recognizable companies in the world. It was founded by the renown and celebrated Steve Jobs. It is an American multinational corporation that designs, manufactures and sells personal computers, consumer electronics and software, and provides related services.The business has experienced major growth over the past years. Its survival for over thirty years has been dependent on the thorough planning and organization that the can puts in place. It uses a strategic method of planning. The strategic planning is necessary for the company in that it is a technological multinational. It has seen a lot of changes in the computer industry. Competition has also proved to be stiff. Planning enables th e company to be prepared for what the future holds for the computer giant in a rapidly changing world and advancements in technology and consumer tastes and preferences.It also enables it to know how to allocate resources between its more traditional products and its newer products which include the iPhones and Apple TV, in order to improve its market position. Also, it enables the company to allocate resources and utilize its unique retail strategy to support the company’s product decisions, and by capitalizing on new and emerging trends thus further maintaining its competitive advantage over its competitors. On a regular basis, Apple Inc. conducts analyses. They conduct the SWOT analysis which puts them on the forefront in terms of performance and competition. This type of analysis focuses on the strengths,  weaknesses, opportunities and threats facing the company.The strengths of this company are plentiful. The main strength, is the customer loyalty combined with a close d ecosystem. This means that the company has developed a full range of applications, software that interlinked. Apple is also a leading innovator in mobile device technology. It has a strong financial performance and strong reputation. It has widely distributed retail stores and strong marketing and advertising terms. Its weaknesses include high prices of all its products, incompatibility of their products with other operating systems, decreasing of its market share in the industry, it is faced with patent infringements. Apple faces further changes in management, defects of new products and finally long-term gross margin decline.The opportunities of the company include, high demand for its products which include the iPhone 5 and iPad mini, iTV launch, increasing demand for cloud based services, emergence of new providers for application processors obtaining patents through acquisition, increased market for tablets and smartphones and strong growth of mobile advertising market. The t hreats faced by the company include, rapid technological changes in the industry, increments in taxes and production costs, rising pay levels for worker, price pressures posed by its competitors which include Samsung and Nokia, the growth of Android OS and also the strong dollar.This analysis enables the company to prepare for any possible outcome of the future and helps I n risk avoidance. It also helps the firm to maximize the utility of all resources and exploit all the opportunities available in the industry. Finally it assists in the planning of the company and decision making.

Technology Use Is Responsible For Poor Sleep - 857 Words

Many people take sleep for granted and undervalue its benefits. I myself used to think of sleep as just a time when one is idle and is doing nothing. When I have lots of coursework and many tasks to complete, sleep is often the first event on the schedule to be compromised. Sacrificing time to sleep for homework is not usually what leads to lack of sleep, unless one procrastinates. Many people do set aside enough time for sleep; however, they have trouble actually falling asleep. After reading the Scientific paper, I realized that problems sleeping are probably related to technology use. The scientific paper suggests that technology use is responsible for poor sleep. This seems to make sense because the advancement of screen technologies is recent, and the widespread inability to sleep is also recent. People today appear to spend more time on a screen device than ever before, and the effects on their sleep are becoming apparent. The consequences of sleep deprivation that I on ce thought were minor and temporary can actually cause anything from being irritable to failing a course or getting fired from a job.
